A

ample current

I have installed a pull cord hunidistat fan in a bathroom. The property has no rcd protection, do I now need to install an rcbo?
In the same house I have installed a similar fan in the kitchen powered from an existing unused sfcu do I also need to add an rcd to this circuit?

Thanks in advance

Because the first fan is in a bathroom (as long as it's not a replacement for an existing fan), then the circuit supplying the fan will require RCD protection.
With the second fan, there is no requirement for RCD protection, as it's not in a location containing a bath or shower.
However any cabeling installed to supply the fan if concealed in walls may require RCD protection.

As above +1,
Is this a TN or TT installation? Someone mentions m.p.b. this should have already been checked prior to works commencing, if this not present then the work should not be done until it is installed. Bonding conductors 6mm would be o.k for minor works & sometimes o.k for major work depending on earthing system and evidence of thermal damage.

Amendment 2 may require RCDs to be always used, but as it has not yet been finalised, no one can know for sure one way or the other.
It's unlikely though.
It has been proposed that all low voltage final circuits for use by ordinary persons should be provided with 30mA RCD protection.
Not quite a requirement that RCDs be always used.

ooh this is all very confusing, I thought additional protection by RCD or RCDs had to be provided for all low voltage circuits in this location (bathroom) bear with me though I know I'm a little out of whack with every reg, I got it wrong with single isolation a day or 2 back and have only just taken the bag off the head, shall I put it back on????????????
