Good luck Lee, we wish you all the best for you and your Son, I'm sure you will find your feet and bounce back as a stronger person.

wow. I just worked out how much we actually lost between April to end of July last year while doing our tax return.

I really didn't see that massive drop in interest coming given that we'd already started to see an upsurge in inquiries in January when we were advertising at the 21p FIT rate, and were looking at minimum 2 jobs a week through Feb even prior to the announcement of the old rate coming back for a month.

Last year was utterly nuts, we certainly wouldn't be if we weren't a family business with 4 of us working in it. Still, onward and upward eh.... best of luck somecamel in whatever comes next for you. Hopefully the pv industry will pick up this year and you'll get to use those skills and experiences again, it really boils my **** that so many skilled experienced installers are being forced to leave the industry due to such inept short sighted government policies.

Hey Guys,

I thought I'd give you an update:p My Little boy is much better, great progress, maybe another month and fully healed.

I'm kinda on the other side of fence from you guys now, working for a national but I still won't wear my suit:p

To be fair the prices are honest and they feed me with leads so I can't complain, took me a few weeks to get back into sales mode, and a Sudden relief that once I've sold it I can pass it over for someone else to deal with all the other **** that I had to deal with before, I'd recommend it :p

Anyway, I'll continue to be fair and won't turn into the shiny suit solar salesman, in fact to make you all feel better:) I lost a job today to a smaller company despite the guy signing a contract yesterday:( They bottomed out their 2kW for £4.5k on slate. I'll win some and lose some but long may the green energy revolution continue:)

Good to see you surviving, at the minute there's a lot to be said for making a sale and then passing on to someone else :)

Beware those shiny suits though - the suck you in lol.

Even my Mum laughed at me last summer going on appointments wearing my Denim shorts - I laughed when I sold:p

What is the state of the market at the moment though? I'm still doing 10%ish on a 4kW

I think the market is picking up a wee bit - mind you it wouldn't take much for it to pick up for us! We're getting 10% for a decent South facing 4kwp. Struggling to price a slate, twin roof 2.5kwp at a sensible price at the minute. Solar Edge is the only solution but it doesn't half crank the price up - along with the extra scaffolding.

How much are you selling? It's always good to know how the nationals are doing.

forget Solar ! I got two jobs in but I gave them a refunded because I could not be bothered and the prices of panels went up while I was arranging scaffold etc...

whats in a solar job these days £400-£500 when you get your vat return ?

so Id rather go and do somthing else got my MCS renewal next mth but I cant be bothered with it anyway.

The sad thing is I used to love solar panels and I loved talking about them all day long, but the industry dropped me in aload of SXXT with MEP electrical going under due to the fact of the fits cuts impact had on my bussiness lucky I started on the green deal in Jan 2012.

well good luck on solar I just think it aint worth it no more PS this is my personal point of view

I don't think you're alone thinking that. There will be a lot of people not renewing mcs this year and not just for pv. Good luck with Green Deal & thanks to you and Sedgy for keeping us up to date with what's happening.

Great to hear about your boy. Also nice to also hear your still in the industry, for sure with the amount of leads coming in you'll show the other shinny suits how to sell (based on fact not c@@p).

Seems like change is on the way, shame a lot of good knowledge is being lost. Just hope the ones left don't sell it short, but with fewer left perhaps Real and mcs can get a grip of things....!

Although there is a steady supply of green first timers who are a bit slow to react thinking there is vast fortunes to be made....does make me laugh.

Role on the good times !
