Hi everyone,

I have completed 2365 L3 couple of months ago and now finally arranged an interview with a big company. Please could anyone tell me what sort of questions should I expect?

Thank you.

Ask them what City & Guilds course(s) you will be enrolled in as part of your apprenticeship?? That will basically tell you what sort of technical path you'll be following... Being a multi skilled tradesman in this day and age isn't a bad thing at all, though It maybe, not to your own liking or your interest.

Exactly!! If its the 2357-13 then you will be doing an electrical installation apprenticeship. If its the 2357-23, then you will be doing the electrical maintenance apprenticeship. If its neither, then if you post up exactly what it is, then we may be able to help.

Thanks jay for the advice, honestly speaking I wanna be an electrician not an AC engineer or technician.

Read the job advert. It is a wish list that they would like from the successful applicant. The advert will tell you what they are looking for and you need to try and tick as many of boxes as you can.
Good luck

I hope you are not silly enough as to having thoughts of becoming a domestic installer as your main aspirations within the electrical industry?? You can do a hell of a lot worse than becoming a fully qualified HVAC technician. That small HVAC title covers a very wide field of work, a large proportion of which being electrical. Which will be a lot more involved and a damn sight more interesting than house bashing!!

Is that set in stone??

Not in this country I believe unlike else where in the world where you need a degree to call your self an engineer not so in this country.

As if it was 90% of job adverts would be classed as false advertising when using the term engineer especially when it comes to repairing washing machines etc

True, noone needs a degree to call himself an engineer. Watching tv one day a dyson vacuum cleaner called himself an engineer Lol. I am also an engineer, i fix my iron, toaster, cattle, etc.

That pretty much sums up the UK today, when we call a vacuum cleaner an Engineer!! lol!!

You can call yourself whatever you like, officially call yourself an Engineer and trade as such, and you'll soon find yourself in trouble....

Only chartered or incorporated engineer are job titles that are regulated in the UK but the majority of the rest of the world go further and any job title with engineer requires a degree or similar.

when DNO are calling their cable jointers engineers, and dynorod ( british gas) call their sh!t stirrers drainage engineers, there's no hope.

Yep engineer is used far to loosely imo.......my title at work is engineer and i hate it!....i make a point of explaining i am not an engineer if i get a chance to anyone who asks and when i sign any certs i use electrical technician.
