Morning Chaps,

Anyone else out there suffer from knee problems :icon9:, I'm guessing so....

If so any remedies/ cures/ suggestions would be appreciated. I've got the best snickers knee pads they do, and wear a decent knee support when it's really bad.

I'm only 38, god knows what they'll be like in 10 years time best I invest in a decent apprentice by then (thats the idea anyway.)

Really do like to try and keep fit a few times a week if poss: squash and cardio at gym... dont want to have to knock this on the head, no way!

Cheers

Sy

Im 40 and starting to feel the knees now.... my old man 'same trade' had his op' both knees 5yrs ago so I see a similar future I suspect.... nature of the job and lack of knee pads over the many yrs. In my favour im not a fat git so a lot less burden on them their joints.

god knows what they'll be like in 10 years

I expect they will get better sythai

Personally, I don't like the knee pads sold as such, though I haven't tried the snickers I must admit.
All I do is buy one of the large kneeling pads (memory foam type stuff) from screwfix and cut it to the correct size for my Dewalt trouser knee pockets. Only lasts a couple of weeks with continuous use before it flattens too much, but it's really, really comfortable and since using it I don't get any knee pain the way I used to.
You get about 3 sets from one pad, btw.

No wish to state the obvious Sythai but squash and cardio at the gym (especially squash)very impact lot of twisting and turning on the knee joint ! Have you tried knee strengthing exercises (leg raises, squats etc.,,) Not saying they will cure the problem but will certainly help to combat the stresses of your chosen sporting activity !

Good knee pads has stated, not kneeling for long periods (I know very difficult) but keep standing up and relieving the pressure every now and then. Hot and cold treatment (ice pack/hot water bottle at alternative times whenever possible)

Physio treatment if you have the time or money to go private ! Although some Doctor's surgery will now let you book this treatment direct at your local nhs physio Dept

Might see if I can blag some free physio from the Docs then you never know....

EDIT:

After all that just been having a chat with my good old Mum (should have gone there first really).... she's only just been and gone to the docs last week with dodgy knees, gave her a quarterzone injection in each one and now they are perfect. Sounds promising :)

I have the same problem and I have got the foam knee pads that insert into my snickers & Scruffs...trouble is, I dont use them!!lol
I just suffer in silence. I also do cardio at the gym 3 times a week and I play 5 aside football indoors. My big problem now is "foot tendinitus" which is a killer, especially when Ive been stood on ladders most of the day.....and its hard to get rid of. Im not going to give up the footy though, Ill just have to take some KET before I play...lol Seriousley though, dont do drugs..... JUST SAY NO!!!!!!lol

im 52 and both knees are bad from arthritis and knee injuries. If you can find then look for a pair oh kneepads equipped with gel pads they will help a lot.
ProFlex 347 Long Cap Honeycomb Gel Knee Pad, Black (2 pads per pack) - Amazon.com
my doctor injects a treatment called synvisc. (trying to stave off jpint replacement for a few more years)
Synvisc-One® Official Site ? Osteoarthritis Knee Pain Relief Treatment
this stuff lasts six to 8 months per injection (and thats on moderate to severe condition)
keeping your weight down to normal is the biggest thing you can do to help.

I wrote the book on bad knees!!!!

6 years later I'm starting to recover. Ive had all sorts done physio, rest, laser treatment, ultrasound, electro this that or the other. Had keyhole surgery and I was pain free for 6 weeks until I developed a new problem and then one year down the line with specialist physio I'm probably half way there. Just doing light knee strengthening at the moment but soon should be able to run and bike and build it up properly.

I initially had patellar tendonitis and some abnormality which i had surgery for but now my knee cap doesnt move in line.

And I dont work in houses so it's not like I'm on my knees all day! (now, now gentlemen).

It's a problem for most sparks, knee problems/back problems even BUPA can't sort it (they just make a mint out of the ops) lol
