L, M or H class vacuum.

I recently brought an L class metabo vac and im not too impressed.

Have been through a few vac now with the wall chaser and im considering spending big bucks on an M or H class vac to handle all the dust.

Any recommendations?

That should fit in a decent size van to be honest.

The problem i see with the alternatives to the numatics is the availability of dust bags (makita Bosch) as a lot of places dont sell them.

Does anybody have a high end one like the one above?

Best one Iv'e ever used was an Hilti one, my mate wanted the best chaser and hoover and went through a few models to find what he thought was the best and ended up with the Makita chaser and the Hilti hoover what cost about £1,200

the hilt hoovers were rebadged nilfisk.
i have a bosch gas 50 that has been good
only fly in the ointment is the bags are 30 quid for 5!
i also have a metabo which i think is alright also
the gas 50 is a bit big to cart about all the time
the bigger festool ones were bombproof but i don't know about now.
there seems to be big price hike from an l to m dust rating.
i would imagine its better filtration of the dust particles but I'm guessing

I bought a triple motored numatic 1500 off ebay which gets trundled out of the shed if I use the chasing machine. works well to be honest, just need to shake the filter every chase or two, only pain is the size and its 110v

Class H is suitable for filtering out, i.e. keeping in, asbestos fibres, hence the difference in price.
The trouble is, once you collect up asbestos in it, it becomes licensed waste and you can't transport it unless you have a license for the transport of asbestos waste.
Then you have the problem of emptying it and disposing of the waste in accordance with the CAWR!
So class H will keep MUCH more of the normal dust inside, as well as all the nasty stuff.

A "normal" vacuum will let the fibres through the bag and filter, and propel them energetically into the air around you ready for you to breathe them in!

M and H class hoovers are for hazardous dust. Specifically a "H" class hoover is for Asbestos.

Looking at the price (660 quid) of that Numatic vacuum in the link above, i think if i was a jobbing electrician i'd be looking at the likes of the Henry or one of its brothers or sisters!! ....lol!!

Yes the Henry is still one of the most popular of vacuum cleaner favoured by electricians. I stand to be corrected here , but I think your observations are correct and Henry and his counterparts are made by Numatic.

The Henry range are superb cleaners but they are just not quite up to wall chasers dust output.

i uise a henry that i bought from car boot 6 years ago for £2. it handles about 90% of the dust. good enough for me. as for the 10%, can't have the lady of the house sitting around with nowt to do.

The best chaser i have owned & it is still serving me faithfully to this day is a Marcrist MIT 88 wallchaser & a Marcrist DB 204 dust extractor, sadly i think they have stopped making this version but i have had it for twenty plus years & it cost me some £ 1300 pounds then. Best investment i ever made in terms of tools
