Can you not just do your r1+r2 and then calculate the zs, have been told that assessors are happy with a calculated zs
 
Yes my 1730 does this, never dream of using it as a R1+R2 reading though! They even say in the Megger guide its just for reference as is not a true R1+R2 as there are parallel paths..... So whats the point in the feature?? Lol
 
With a PIR, there is no requirement to measure or record R1+R2 on a Radial circuit.
Measuring Zs at each point, and operating any switches will prove also continuity of conductors and polarity.
 
True, good point. Just proving safe for continued service.
Buts what's wrong with doing the calc? If the tester does it all it may mean that the cowboys win again....
 
Nothing wrong with measuring R1+R2, other than it's an unneccessary procedure.
No way will you be able to perform 20min PIRs, if you go around measuring R1+R2 all the time.
