As a project I am interested in getting some Liquid plastic, the sort you could possibly recover or repair insulated tools with, I realise it won't be up to VDE standards, but would like to give it a try anyway, anyone got any ideas as to where I can get some? tried The Shed, Wickes etc.

Marlin do polymer balls that can be melted and then shaped for small plastic hobby type of things

whilst we're on the subject of getting hold of the unusual, anyone know where i can get a bowden cable repaired or replaced? pic shows where the plastic retaining collar has snapped on the groove. ( should be enlargeable).

Have you tried a repair using plumbers pipe cement tel ? Or www.cable-tec.co.uk supply all sorts of Bowden cables.

Acetone and polystiryne.

Dissolve the polystiryne into the acetone until it's like gel and layer on.
Rather brittle if they're airbubbles but very diy

when operated, the collar is under tension. should have been made of metal, but that's Ford for you. their answer is to replace cable and lock assembly ( can't buy the cable separately ). parts cost £100. labour if they fit it £80.
