doing my first loft conversion.need six sockets, light and smoke alarm .thinking of new ring circuit, light and alarm off existing light circuit ...is this the easiest/best way and approx what price do i charge

Yes, if you stated your intentions with what was already in situ, we can advise accordingly. We haven't got a clue about the existing install, you have gave no idea what it is like. How the hell are we supposed to know with that information?

Feed your 6 new sockets, the new light and the alarm off the existing lighting circuit as you suggest and charge the ÂŁ12,000.

Scot that is not asking for a bit of help that is asking us to sort it out for you, you may as well have said " is there any chance you can pop to my house and cut the grass walk the dog, wash my car and cook me some tea"
Also very rarely is the easiest way the best way

Yes mate. Your question needs to be a bit more as people have mentioned above. If you ask a question giving only the basic details you aren't going to get many decent answers are you? Why would someone bother wasting their time to type up a reply when you probably knocked up the OP (original post) in 20 seconds? We need more details before we can answer any of your questions!

I agree with most of what your saying here and of course without information how are we supposed to advise and i also get the hump with alot of these posts especially the recent ones we have had.
But i have noticed that sometimes even if a person has shown there cable calcs and methods of installation then they still get raped on here.
We all make mistakes and nobody is perfect so sometimes rather than everybody just ganging up and jumping on the band wagon why not just give some constructive critisism.
We all love banter and without it you wouldnt last long on site and some of these posts do take the mickey but alot of the responses are uncalled for in some circumstances

Existing install all satisfactory good earth etc.laminate floor in all rooms below loft so difficult to tap into existing ring.im recently qualified so not done many jobs im okey with the regs just unsure with the practical.in need of a bit of confidence boost...best way I can think of .just seeing if more experience can sugest better ways.thanks

Get this sort of info into your question early doors or you WILL get varying levels of abuse. Mind you, even if you ask a sensible question certain people will still give you abuse :) Daz

http://www.electriciansforums.co.uk...cal-forum/81855-outdoor-light.html#post833242 We are not an estimating software program, if the OP had suggested his price then asked for our view then fair enough, he is posting asking for us to give him costs on all his threads, why should we just shout figures without anything back?

Yep I know what you're saying MDJ, it's just that lately everyone seems to be intent on putting new people off joining the forum. Daz
