loft conversion

doing my first loft conversion.need six sockets,light and smoke alarm .thinking of new ring circuit,light and alarm off existing light circuit ...is this the easiest/best way and approx what price do i charge

Was thinking 1 1/2 days work so £300-350...was more concerned with design ideas as u more experienced guys will have done numerous different ways

300-350 for a day and a halfs work sounds okay. Don't forget to add the cost of the materials onto the job as well. whatever it costs you plus 15% on the top I would recommend. As for design, there is nothing wrong with coming off the existing lighting circuit for the new lights and the one smoke you mentioned. However I would suggest you may need 2 smokes, one at the top and the bottom of the new stairwell. Sockets? if you can get to the Db then a new ring would be my choice, in saying that though if you do have to get to the DB then wire the lights on a new circuit as well.

What about all the information about the existing installation , as already mentioned you need to give more information , we cannot give any idea of costs without taking many other aspects into account ,,,

So with my helpful "hat on":

1. Bonding
2. RCD protection
3. Route of cable from CU to loft?
4. Have you or the client spoken to building control about smokes/heats?
5. Load on existing circuits?

whats the max demand likely to be here?...chances are a radial will be more than adequate....what would the length of run be?
