hi
I have recently bought a megger 1552 tester. it is in very good condition as it was just used as a back up. i have a slight problem with it though when trying to use it for testing continuity. basically i can only carry out one continuity test and then i have to turn the tester completely off and then back on again to test another time. is this normal or am i doing something wrong? im sure you dont have to do that especially for a ÂŁ300 tester!
thanks for any advice given

well i am very confused. as soon as there is continuity the tester buzzes for about 2 seconds whilst flashing a battery sign in the corner and then stops buzzing. it doesent even give a reading!
it cant be the batteries as i have just replaced them

Send it away for a quote for repairs, how did yo pay for the tester? credit card? if so claim on it if it's a duff meter.

thanks everyone.
i have just rang megger and they say it is an internal component fault or an internal fuse has blow!! :(
i bought it of ebay so have some bones to pick with the seller!!
anyone have any idea where i could get it repaired and calibrated?

Your local friendly Wholesaler may be able to point you in the right direction, some hod "calibration days" just ask them.

Hi did the eBay seller describe it? Did they mention any faults, did it come with a calibration certificate?

1552 are getting old now and spares are getting a bit scarce.

Meter do a turn around on repairs a default of £280 including calibration. Someone else might be able to fix it cheaper , but if they can’t they send it to Megger..........!

Mine is still working strong if you have put new batteries in it and the problem still persists check the fuse as it could have come loose in transit or blown if continuity is done on a live circuit.
