I think the first course of action is to get Sky to check the box to determine the fault, ( have you been round to have a look?)

we all have the threat of court one way or another. Don't panic, as long as u can back up what u have done, then who cares what she does, either way it will cost her more in the long run!

there is a chap they no going round 2moz but he is not from sky the problem with this woman is she tries to play all trades off each other but we are all mates so we tell each other what she says she is going to have a big shock 2moz because the kitchen fitter is going to pull out because how she treats him

i killed a brand new Bosch fridge freezer doing RCD test, unless it was just coincidence. Luckily it was the mother in laws, and only 2 days old, she called them. and they sent an engineer out who put some sort of new module in it under warranty. I cant for the life of me see why RCD testing should cause any problems like this though.

As Steve has said, we are supposed to remove the loads. In this case it is worded on page 56 of GN3.

It seems very unlikely, however with the applied test current when you carry out an RCD test, it must be considered plausible.
If it was me I would call her bluff to see if it just dissolves into nothing. At the same time, it might be worth looking on freecycle or something to see if someone has a spare sky+, there will be somewhere what with all the HD upgrading going on..

widdler !! GO TO BED!

You're beginning to make a habbit of that..

honestly mate this customer is mad i changed her board about 4 months ago and there was no problems then but now she insists it my fault i have tried to explain that if i dad a i/r test then i would understand her concern but she has told my builder mate who is working there that she is going to take me to court she is proper mad

If you changed the board 4 months ago and the sky box has just stopped working how is it your fault?

I would say Ok see you in court and make yourself look a complete and utter idiot.

My advice here would be to ask her to get Sky to diagnose the problem, we both know that on an RCD test that wouldn't damage the Sky+ box, your defence on this one is to ask yourself "If there was a power cut and the electric was to go off as happens when the RCD kicks in it disconnects the supply and your Sky Box broke what would happen"

This may seem a daft question, but has the customer unplugged the unit for a few minutes and then plugged it in again to ensure it does a proper reset?

Some electronic items can benefit from the basics!

As said before, CHANCER. I'll bet you that the sky box was knackerd before you turned up. Call her bluff mate, tell her that it is possible for sky to see the last time she used it(don't know if that's true or not?). If she used it in the morning your stuck. If it was a month ago and trying to blame you and get you to pay for another one tell her where to stick the sky box, in the weee box.
