Put this in today, I hope it doesn't burst into flames.:tongue3: Didn't have the time to faff about and get the cabling 'perfect' as I had so much to do today but I think it's ok. With the BG boards I generally 're number' the earth bar as to me it's illogical having the CPCs running in the opposite order of the neutrals,I'll miss the insulated CUs. Sorry about the
poor photo. :)

So how is running the earth conductor in same hole going to stop this rise in temp.? I was always under impresion eddy currents were concern in line and N conductors in >200amp installs. Please copy n paste the reg on here fir those of us who dont have a big book to hand

Blimey ,

One minute giving me brutal criticism and going well overboard about a perfectly good, safe and totally compliant installation and now you want to disregard certain regulations. :juggle2:

you can put the cpc in a separate hole as long as it's a square hole. by the time that eddy has negotiated the corners, the fault will have cleared. :behead:

Let's see how many errors we can spot in one of my boards. This is a second hand board which I've fitted in the warehouse for the test bench and work bench.

I can put up a few pictures of a dimmer I fitted in a rush just before Christmas too if you want?

we can all agree on the fact the reg says we should.

ive never used a wiska gland and i have no intention of using one when a bush and lockring will work just fine.

the earth is too far away in that pic above for the eddy currents to affect it though isnt it?

Looks pretty good to me, maybe brown, black and grey markers down the centre to correspond and clarify the old to new line colours would look the part though ?

Maybe they would, bit in my highly technical opinion i say 'bugger that for a lark'
It'll only ever be one of us working on it as the whole workbench will be taken down amd moved if we ever do

Someone said about the difficulty of making a really neat job when reconnecting older wiring into a new CU,here's a 'before and after' from a few months ago I know there's a connector in there, one of the CPCs was too short. :)[ElectriciansForums.net] My last 'non Amd 3' CU Install.[ElectriciansForums.net] My last 'non Amd 3' CU Install.

Edit - The interesting think about this was that circuits 2 and 3 in the old Wylex [from the right] were the two ends of the same RFC, it had been like that for 45 years !

You've stripped the sheath on the blue tail 1/2" too far back.
Rip it all out and start again.:33:
