Discuss New Consumer Unit Installation with Choc Box connectors in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Doesn't it say in the guidance notes that any connection that doesn't need service should be of MF type?? I.e
Extensions in a CU/DB
I only seen this not That long ago.
So wagos or crimps for me.

Why would anyone use choc blocks, screwed terminals blocks and standard Wago's in a CU installation?? it's going to look a real pigs ear and more like a DIY job, than a professionally installed jobby!! Crimped joints every single time with the correct coloured heat shrink. Looks the business when your left with conductors that are too short for the new CU!!

In complete honesty we are not talking a work of art here are we? Providing everything is tight, in the correct terminal, with the correct rated connector, is properly tested and not a rats nest, then I for one do not give a monkeys. It's horses for courses. For me you can't beat din rail connectors for multiple connections.

Well there are those of us that DO give a monkeys what our finished work looks like, ...Thankfully!!!

Nothing against DIN rail connectors at all, if fact very nice too see them, but are expensive, require a separate enclosure, and not always possible to fit in cramped space conditions.
