got inducted at a new job today its an underground job in london

My agency they told me my rate when i got there and filled out all the forms i got pulled to the side by one of the companies supervisors doing the induction...because my Gold card was so fresh he asked me how long i have had it i told him 6 months he said I'm afraid your just an 'advanced mate' you will be dropped £20 a day on your rate

I'm absolutely gutted thats 100 pounds a week i'll be down just got a mortgage thats the last thing i need. after all the hard work i have done to get the gold card i am gutted i am not getting the rate.

I've been working as a mate since 1998 I've done my time :(

is this common practise with electrical firms a deduction when you just come out of your time?????

Thats exactly whats required, have not had a great deal of work since getting laid off in april and starting up on my own,and for anyone else desparing out there,my words of advice are knock on that door, knock on another, keep on knocking ,eventually someones gonna let you in,you can never try hard enough.

Talking of Knocking on doors Iv been in the house during the day for first time in ages and yesterday 4 cold callers from local firms not pikies or big firms sweeping the area 3 of them were smartly dressed and asking if I needed any work doing politely asking If I would take their card and keep them in mind if I did want stiff doing the 4th looked as if he had just crawled out a loft n grunted when I said I didnt need anything doing This is the first time Iv had 4 in one day normaly even when the wife was off it was 1 or 2 a month so even well established wee local firms are feeling the pinch
This country can only get better when handouts are stopped to the wrong type of people and shysters alkkys druggies illegals migrants are stopped from draining the coffers and made to put into it

I read somewhere recently that Migrants dont pay tax for first 2 years BUT can claim tax credits ect hence they save holidays n take 2 months at month 23 then return and start again How true this is I dont know :S:S no wonder we are going belly up

I would speak to the agency as stated. Failing that work like a "motherF****" for say a month - 6 weeks get really involved. Make yourself part of the "Team" (There is always a core in these places) - Make sure you get along with the guys and make them feel you are indispensable. THEN tell them you are off in a week or two since you are a spark and you are being taken the **** out of by management regarding your rates. Make sure you have the backing of the men when you go to this ----er and tell him you want your money put right or your off. Preferably you pull this when you are in the middle of a job that would take a bit of working out if someone else had to take it over......Hope you get my drift here. There is an old saying "There is more than 1 way to skin a rabbit".......just use your head mate and strike when the time is right. You could also alert the agency that they can look for other placements for you due to the circumstances that are happening here.

UPDATE

so i asked the agency and they said i caught this guy on a bad day the two years isn't set in stone but he does imply it sometimes but very rare told me keep my nose clean and we will asks the question in a few weeks.

Asked around few new sparks i.e. youngs guys in there low 20s where getting stopped the 25 quid some elec mates even getting stopped until they proved they wasn't just labourers

i worked my arse off for the last two weeks was only cable pulling each night but i was on time each day and showed willing

NOW THE BAD NEWS
got a call yesterday from the agency saying i have been let go not competent enough WOW i can only think this is a generic excuse for letting people go because i have not shown any signs of lacking competence i literally have had no chance of showing it we have pulled cable in a straight line and cabled tied it to a tray how could you get that wrong. i know it could be done sloppy but since we had the time we made a god job of it. I'm really baffled

im gutted tbh but have to move on i am only pressing to clear my name so the agency give me more work because right now they must think I'm a right ****

Competency in pullin cable/s??? What the hells that ffs?....Seems to me that you may have caused a stir here so they gave you a job that was beneath you just so they could say "not competent enough"...In fact, would a company on the warpath use such language anyway?.....caused a few uncomfortable seats within the jolly world of musical chairs methinks..........

You've had a lucky escape. This could have gone on for months with you dangling on the end of the rope being given a good tug every now and then to give it the jolly along. Your well rid, these idiots are not worth your effort in trying to prove yourself, nothing would have been enuff.
