Hi, im only just recently qualified and have come across a situation I have never experienced yet, in a block of flats in the hall are the meters that then go off to a switch then cables run into the house, there is no main earth in the house!! the tails are about 10 - 16mm cant remember now sorry. so I was wondering who has to run the earth in and if its me what size earth 10mm ? just want to clarify and what tests do I do and results should I get to be able to pme the system ? thankyou
you can pme it if you get less then 0.35 I believe ? granted your not ment to but aslong as the area can be pme'd, then whats the problem ? its been tested pull the fuse, connect it up put fuse in and re-seal then your laughing![]()
thankyou, so whats wrong with that ? its been tested, I can pull and reseal meters its a pme area ?

Have you got the answer yet. Do not try and dabble in things that are both dangerous and illegal.
Word of warning you just can NOT link NE if the network is not pme , this needs to be checked with the dno, joint in the network that are pme are studded both sides of every joint. If you link in your earth to the neutral block and it isn't PME then any fault potential will come straight down to your point of earth, because you would have created a direct path. CHECK IT OUT.
