non maintained emrgency light wiring help

hi,im trying to connect non maintained emrgency light wire to 1 gang way switch the 3 core wire is connected from light board L,N,E but i dont know where to connect it on 1 gang way switch it has COMM,L1,L2 showing on switch im looking for diagram this will make it easier for me please help.cheers

I think you are asking how to wire a switch fed single gang switch?

Richard I suspect a 3 core and earth has been run from an emergency light to a 2 way light switch, and theres no neutral there hence the light not working!!

Are you sure. I read the OP several times and I'm confused.

Wonder what the building is and who decided to fit a non maintained light?

If your "3 core cable" has only live neutral and earth then I think you want to wire it as in the diagram in the bottom right of this picture.

Well you need to get a neutral to the light somehow, either from another light or to the switch so the 3 core you have pulled in can carry the neutral to the light, either way you need to wire one in or the light won't work, as for connecting to the switch, when you have got the neutral in let us know how you did it and we can advise how to connect, it could be different depending on where your neutral comes from, you may also need to alter your 2 way wiring, it is possible you have no feed at the switch, could be a switch wire and 2 strappers only which won't be permanent, if a domestic situation it is likely okay, but there are several ways to make 2 way lighting work, how many cores at the existing switch? 3 or 5 not counting earths?

im not at home now so i will tell you how many cores at the existing switch i will post image if its allowed

Nor me, however if its the only way now lol it could be converted I supose to a 2 gang grid with a key switch there, definately got a heath robinson feel about this thread though haha

You can't switch a non-maintained bulkhead.

when you turn it off the light will switch to battery power.

I reckon this is a wind-up.Sound very basic to me
