Hi all

I discussed a similar situation in a previous thread but the topic keeps popping up with testing jobs that I seem to be attracting at the moment.I got offered a job carrying out EICR's for the MOD and the rate of pay was by the property?? In other words, if I don't knock out 4 or 5 a day, I don't make any money. Travelling time in a shared company van is not paid. Is this how the testing indusrty is going?

.....The contractor has specified that he expects us to deliver 4 a day.....

I bet he does, he's transferred all the risk for any later problems to you as you're signing the paperwork?

IMHO there is just no way you can do a professional and thorough job of doing 4 in a day .......... unless the extent and limitations & operational limitations are such that you aren't doing any inspecting and testing!

The QS is about 22 years old and looked very nervous on the induction day.

Perhaps it was just dawning on the poor lad, that the company had stamped ''MUG'' on his forehead!!

How a 22 year old can realistically be the company QS, responsible for god knows how many electricians (or even worse, wannabe DI's) work is beyond me. But it tells magnitudes about the company and it's working ethics....
