Discuss Phasing nightmare in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

I want to build a house thats mains-less (no need for the grid (but still attached for emergency needs)) but..... i have had a look around and they recommend that 3 phase systems are more stable than single phase and uk houses run single phase, but as i want to build a huge F in pool too, i need a 3 phase supply for that, which easy answer is.... get a single to 3 phase transformer...... but what can i do if my 'Mains' supply is 3 phase from a motor generator which WILL recirculate to power itself ;)

i need a system that will:
power at 230/240V 1PH 100A 200KW
BUT
Also 330/480V 3PH 100A 400KW

Possible????

the motor generator: 480V 3PH 200A 1000KW (200KW to power itself)

just a funny thought ---> maybe put a HUGE flywheel on the motor so i can hand crank it up ;)
Talk to an engineer, it may cost some money but he will design what you want safely and not via guess work asking sparks on a forum.

No engineer on the planet would be able to design what he wants!
A motor generator which has an input of 200KW and output of 1000KW!

well yes quite possibly true, my point is asking us on here is pointless, it needs some serious thought and not silly guesses.

Motor generators have a purpose, they can convert one form of AC to another amongst other things.

But they cannot create power, they always have a power loss across them.

Any generating system will not be 100% efficient, this would be against the laws of nature.

true they lose power 'generating' power but the power that is lost isnt MORE than whats available to use
1% loss isn't sufficient to cause the motor to be under-powered and over time cause it to stop
2 MegaWatts minus 1% leaves 1.8 MegaWatts left over. if the motor demands 0.3 MegaWatts to power the generator and the demand from the house is around 1MegaWatts then there is still 0.5MegaWatts unaccounted for.... that's the question..... yes i am a pain in the :censored: and stubborn till i can understand the answer in my own mind.... so please stick with me

No, it will require 2MW for the motor in your scenario but only generating 1.8MW at the output.

You cannot get more power out than you put in!
