A slight problem with the turbine.

But not to worry - all the bits are there to put it back together......

told you not to stick your fingers in there.

This is the problem with these turbines if one breaks it becomes shrapnel and breaks others and we have a domino effect... any Idea what the cause was?

Well my new 70dD arrived today, shame we haven't got a photography section to make use of it.

I don't.
It's at an oilfield in Libya. It had been abandoned during the war between Gaddafi and rebel forces.
When that subsided and the ex-pats went back to put the equipment back into service that's when it happened. My guess is that lubrication system failed or got sand in it - it's two hours flight from Tripoli into the Sahara desert.
The last I heard from site, and that was a few months ago, was that a replacement turbine had been ordered. I don't know whether it has been delivered yet. The turbine drives a 30MVA, 13.8kV alternator.

It's of interest to me because we designed, built and shipped a new static exciter for the alternator. It was due to be commissioned at the times the troubles kicked off. Of course the country is again in turmoil so I don't know if the plant will be put back into service any time soon. It's the second we supplied and I commissioned the first. I was looking forward to going back to the Sahara. I suppose it will happen at some point - oil revenues are important to the country. Whether I get involved is debatable at the rate things are going and I'm already past my sell by date.

Rubbish I used to be an admin of a vbullitin forum and it is easy to set up another board within it, it takes seconds.
Thankyou Mike @ Paul get your finger out you've been rumbled
I've already posted a few here.
Can't we just keep this thread?
No mate we want a dedicated section to upload images and advice etc.

I'll rephrase it "...not a straight forward thing to do, it has to be done by Dan".

The computer side of things are easy as you say

I'm looking forward to the new section, may take a few pics myself?

The 696 is the renaming distance. The 372 is the distance travelled since the last fuel stop.
The tank capacity is a bit over 14 gallons, 14.3 I think.

The pic was taken when we got home from a trip to Scotland.
Cars these days can be very fuel efficient.
