Morning all. I Installed an electric pizza oven late last night and found that when it gets to a certain temperature it trips the RCD. its on a 63amp/30mA RCD and a 20 amp MCB. not sure what temp it gets to but it was on for about 5 mins then tripped. Question is could it be that i need to put a 100mA trip current RCD in or is it what I thought a there is a problem with the oven / heating element ??

Rating of the oven is 3.6Kw

Don't really want to go fork out for a less sensitive RCD when it wont do the job

I tried a kettle on a different circuit that the RCD supplies and that was all ok

(TN systems) You should avoid rcd protection on high powered Pizza ovens, they will trip rcd's, even when there is nothing wrong with the element. A friend of mine would run his oven all night & when he switched it off at the end of the night, the rcd would trip. (3.6kw is very low kw for a pizza oven.) Marvo's post is spot on. I use to own pizza takeaways for over 18 years & electrician's always seem to want put oven's on rcd's.

Not ones that know the crack don't lol.

You guys are clearly narrow minded.

For some of you I don't think you even understood what I was stating. I'm not defending the diyer nor electricians from good advice. I was defending from bullish bahaviour, making whoever was part of it, aware. Now I can only assume you guys are defensive as you are guilty and out of the 600 odd viewers you must be of a minority. You bounce off each others posts like bully's in a playground and do so in many other threads and seems to be the same folk.

I won't be watching this thread after this post as I think I've made my point obvious.
