So, anonymous poll - who pulls the main fuse when required (ie CU change) and who get's the DNO/supplier/whoever in to sort it?

Yeah exactly, I was replying to the above poster "Did a Ze reading which came out at 0.16, so didn't comply (tns)" but my point is that's an excellent reading so I don't know why it doesn't comply.

you know what, your absolutely right. It must have been the gaping hole in the fuse housing that caught they're attention

The dno's really need to get there act together and approve a scheme like SSE for electricians to pull fuses then crack down on people who aren't approved. I will say that using the correct ppe is essential though, this happened when one of our technicians pulled a cut out fuse.

so what would be considered as the "official" ppe for this
If you work for the metering companies or dno it's normally full face visor and LV gloves (leather over gloves if required for mechanical protection) and clothing should be flame retardant. When we do work on the large metal clad heads (up to 600 amp) overalls as well and those are arc resistant.

And I looked over the shoulder of someone pulling one - I'm sure there were seals before pulled.
Given the grand advice of pocketing the fuse carrier to protect yourself from idiots playing a trick and not thinking about the consequences.
