I've not seen that Hilti hook before certainly looks better but as you say it still doesn't comply. I'm waiting a reply from Trada to see how they feel about the fixing methods we're using and if they have a better method(can o worms maybe)

In the meantime, I assume a piece of timber screwed to the side of each rafter is the only way to go?

Bolted, needs to be a structural connection

70mm rafters, you could just about get away with 2 x 8mm coach bolts using the proper washers etc and drilling the holes in exactly the right place. You'd need a proper structural calc to tell you. And then of course you need access to the rafter :) Try doing that in a loft conversion, unless you cut the membrane (aka felt) and then you need to properly repair that .......

Some good practice guidelines need to be produced very quickly..

It strikes me that we're stuck between a rock and a hard place here. Certainly in this job, I want to do it properly. But the thing is, you're up against the rafter-bolt boys and I bet that 9 times out of 10, the customer will go for price/speed of installation. It's crazy. It seems no bracket is compliant and yet for some reason the industry (at both ends of the spectrum) is happy to blindly supply and fit using brackets that fail to comply.

Gah!!!!
