Hi
Totally new to the trade, having taken redundancy recently just completed Domestic Installer course (C&G) but in need of real hands on work experience as mostly had theory apart from self testing/certificating.

The fact is, you are actually qualified for very little if anything, as even the limited theory you have been taught will will leave a lot to be desired. I get the impression that you have just found this out for yourself hence your OP of this thread!!!

IrishSpark is actually being generous as you wouldn't even qualify as a ''Mate'' these days, many of whom will have a core qualification C&G2365 or the like, under their belt...

It may not be what you want to hear, but it's the god's honest truth i'm afraid!!

At last!
A decent response, many thanks IrishSpark. I wont be back in here then, now it has been laid out in plain English without the snipes ď‘Ť

What you should do is add your location to your profile and say you are looking for work as a mate/beginner - you never know, there may be a sparky near you who may need a hand on occassions...... or you could burn your bridges on here.....

How easy did you think starting a new trade from scratch would be? You've just come on here saying "I need work experience". You haven't told us what qualifications you've got, you haven't actually asked for a job, you haven't even told us where you are.
People on here will help you if they can, but only if you let them.

Well that was a pretty appalling welcome on the whole, there were a few posts that were semi helpful but I'm not surprised you're considering not coming back.

I've deleted all the posts so everyone can start with a clean slate. If there's insufficient info in the opening post please just ask for the info that would be relevant rather than descending the thread into a p155-take and suggesting it might have been otherwise if he'd included more info.

Why not just delete the whole thread.

Because that wouldn't be fair to the op who simply started a thread, this way as Marvo said the thread now starts with a clean slate for everyone.

That's the point though - he didn't simply start the thread, he replied. Twice.

You're right Adam he did reply twice, once to say he wasn't getting help and then again to say he probably wouldn't come back due to the replies he received.
