Any thoughts to why almost boiling water is coming from the taps? Faulty stat on the hot water cylinder?

I hope it's sooner rather than later or this could possibly happen
just read that article. that's awful. can't believe councils were aware but waiting till notification of problem from tennants. just wrong. that poor childs life, pain she went through and suffering the family still are, to delay spending 'small' money. totally wrong

Cheers guys. I've heard of some terrible incidents associated with unvented systems.

Thinking about it and from speaking with my relatives, I don't believe a stat is wired nor has it ever been. There is a stat connected to the electrical immersion element, however this is always switched OFF and the water is only heated when the time clock calls for it. Surely there must be a stat somewhere to prevent the water from boiling. Like I said in a previous post, this has only occurred in the last 6 months.

I think I'll have to go back and check it out.

Had this on a fortic tank once - it boiled up and the water in the storage tank (at the top) eventually boiled then melted the plastic ball on ball valve - overflowed for about 2 hours (at night) - what an effing mess!

Nobody hurt though

Jesus, for the price of an immersion heater stat, just chance the bloody thing, were talking of just a few ÂŁ's . Then if you're so inclined, you can open up the existing one to have a look at WHY it's not doing it's job.

Whilst I appreciate your comments Engineer, if you read my previous post I said that there is an immersion element with stat that is not connected. From what I have been told the water is being heated by the boiler when the time clock calls for it.

Should there be some sort of stat in the boiler which controls the hot water?

There should be a tank stat (calls for HW) and the boiler should have adjustable temp control
