Sometime ago I had my 15yr old, wanting to know the advantages and disadvantages of a ring to a radial sockets, and all I could think of was, you dont have to worry about volt drop in a ring and how much costly it could be, then I realised :banghead: I had been in the trade for while and felt like a mug I can't even managed enough solid reasons. I would appreciate any more contribution so I can go back and tell him, with head high, chest busting and he thinks old man is a genius.

circuits should only be designed chosen and installed to suit the requirement of the installation needs. And not for any personal preference reasons!!

I agree with Engineer54:thumbsup

Selecting a particular circuit just because of ease of testing is in my honest opinion is not at all professional. The circumstances should provide the answer NOT preference

So basically we have Adolf to thank for the invention of the RFC.

Hitler used a ring final against France
He had less luck with it in Russia because of the size of the country

I expect this is why the area to be covered by a ring has its limitations

I agree completely. I will always design the circuit for it's intended use.
From a design, it's use and the loading point of view why would a RFC be better installed in a lounge, dinning or bedroom for example than a 20a radial?
