I read something earlier, me and my Mrs have just voted, me yes, her no.
Someone responds, may as well have stayed at home then! :smilielol5:

Well, we voted Yes.

I've read all the posts and it's amazing how much dis-information and inaccuracy there is. There are risks on both sides - yes and no. I'd rather be optimistic and positive. It's funny how Westminster have only recently made all these 'promises' and I doubt any/many will come to fruition?! I've had a gut-full of Westminster rule and how the country has gone down the pan over the last 30/40 years. I'd rather take my chances in a new independent Scotland.

The vote will be close, but I doubt that it will happen...
How the flick do you think we feel we want to get away from Westminster to but it's bloody here

We'll, I'm a NO!!!! Not a politically motivated decision, rather that there has (in my opinion) been no coherent rational information that independence would be economically viable.
As someone else has said, the SNP are motivated by a fundamental desire for independence whatever the economic and social cost, and are selling an ideal, not reality.
i have no time for most politicians, with policies focusing on the next election rather than what will be good/best in the longer term.
Particularly disappointing has been the bullying edge to the Yes campaign - if you don't agree with them you don't have your country at heart.
one final note- the Saltire does not belong to the SNP, but to all the people of Scotland!

Personally I don't think any politician tells whole truths.
Salmond I think is a dangerous little man who was obviously bullied by an Englishman at some point during his childhood, as he seems to have a major problem with us & anything English/British.
Is he the Scottish version of Farage?

What would I have voted, probably No & not for any other reason other than "better the devil you know" & the possibility that Scotland will be handed what is near as dam it self-rule called devo max.

If they vote yes will anything change? Just thinking........

  1. No funding from Westminster for the health service over the boarder (the Government missed a trick over the past few years, should have renamed it BNHS, British National Health Service).
  2. Will Scots be charged for treatment south of the boarder on the NHS, they will after all be foreigners.
  3. No Police funding from London.
  4. No funding for a military force.
  5. Submarine & naval nukes need moving south along with everything that comes with them.
  6. Naval shipbuilding should come back to Portsmouth (Naval craft cant be built by a foreign power).
  7. Could be problems & price increases with Mobile phone networks (if they vote yes in theory Scotland will not have any licencing for such networks.
  8. How will Unions go on?
  9. Consumer goods will go up in price, after all they will be imported across a border so I assume there will be an import tax?

All a very big mess in the making.

Love it!!! :smilielol5:

I can't image anything much more terrible as him going down in history as the man who liberated Scotland!

No i haven't, but if they are painting a rosy financial future for an independant Scotland, they are misguided and or have alternative motives. Many of the contributors to the FT are the same guys that had their hands deep in the same banks and hedge fund organisations etc, that was the major cause of the global recession. The same people that are now the only ones making a killing from the overall fallout.

It seems everything is revolving around a diminishing resource, which when exhausted will leave the country's major export being Whiskey, presently the second largest export resource. Now ask the Whiskey producers if they want a yes vote to succeed....

I'm afraid that ''Management By Crisis'' (which will be the case) has no place in developing a new Economy over prudent financial planning. Remember that dossier, 560+ pages and only ONE relating to financial matters. If that doesn't tell the voters something i feel sorry for them, as nothing will!! Your being swept along on a nationalistic flurry by those that haven't got a scooby doo, that are thinking more about their own interests rather than the country's interest!!

Works in china, lives or lived in Greek Cyprus and now an expert on Scotland? BTW uisge beatha is called whisky in these parts. We ain't Irish.

The majority of the negative comments you and others make about independence can so easily be turned around and used about the no campaign. Sometimes you just have to have faith and see the glass as half full. I'd rather take my chances than with the Westminster cronies that will undoubtably a@ÂŁse **** the Scots if a no vote succeeds (based upon historical fact of politicians doing what they want).

sorry but what makes your mp's any better?

there all the same doesnt matter if your in or out the uk it will be the same

Having been up to Scotland many times, it seems OK to me. I don't seem to recall anyone scurrying around in clogs and doffing their caps to superior southerners in their fancy carriages.

As a Mancunian, Edidburgh is far too expensive for me. Only go there because my mate lives in Morningside! :smilielol5:
Are you REALLY that oppressed by this almighty crushing anything north of Watford Westminster machine, any worse than the rest of us in the UK?

Get over yourselves!!!!

What was most disconcerting today was the x in the ballot paper was done in pencil....
shares in steadler erasers are up by 500%
mine was yes btw

1&2
NHS Scotland , Wales , N Ireland and England are all seperate. If u are in Scotland and you need treatment, it is back billed to NHS England.

3 why will we need more police finding
4. How much do peaceful nations like Sweden Norway spend on forces
5.you can keep your nukes they are totally useless anyway. If u get them back ,they will be going to the north east of England ( further away from Westminster the better eh)
6. All parts of navel craft are made in "Britain" are u sure ?
7. Mmmmm
8. Unions make no difference to me.
9.Tesco already said they can't see there prices going up ( who is bigger than tesco)

Ha ha. ....You don't need to be an expert on Scotland to see the pure folly in a Yes vote!!!

Well we'll all see tomorrow what the outcome of the referendum will be? Maybe, just maybe your esteemed leader will even start telling the Scottish public a few painful truths, if the yes vote wins the day, but then it will all be too late!! lol!!

Hot off the press:

YouGov are suggesting the vote to be won by the no campaign - 54% to 46%

Not sure how long I'm going to stay up!
