Discuss Scottish Referendum in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

A very good point, there is no doubt Labour will be hit very hard if Scotland say yes. In fact it will cost them the next election for sure, that I strongly believe.

And quite a few in the future too - especially if the boundary commision equalises ALL areas to be roughly the same representation of electors

Well I am expecting them to lose the next election, but if they lose the one after that and we are stuck with right wing policies in this country for the next generation or two I will emigrate to Canada and buy some land.

We've pretty much had right of centre since 1979!

Alec Salmon is a bit like Nigel Farage - lacking in detail where it matters, but they both sound good to clueless voters.

Well you can name call all you like. I will be voting YES, that's a vote for Scottish independence, not a vote for Alex Salmond. If independence is won and the country fails then at least it was at our own hands and not at the hands of someone that is allowing a nation to slowly fall into destitution whilst his rich friends fleece buckets of cash from the poorest and most deprived

Trouble now though is it is going even farther right, racism and segregation of communities are just 2 of the awful things happening in this country, Perhaps the Scots will be wise to leave the union, In fact I may move there haha

I'm going to retire there, so I can get my nursing home fees paid by the state and so I can leave my kids some money!

From what I've read from another forum, leaving the EU is the LAST they want!

Then who do you expect to bail you out??

I couldn't give a ---- either way, but let me for a moment put myself in the shoes of a smelly jock. Do I vote to stay in and have that 'see you next Tuesday' Cameron in charge? Hmm... I think not. As much as I hate that lying little weasel Salmond, he has got one thing going for him at least, and that is he ain't a Tory!

... So it's fine to ruin Scotland as long as it's a Scot who's doing it?
I would have thought it'd be better not to ruin it at all, but then I don't understand how Socialism is supposed to work.

Who is going to pay our dole if we separate?
Who is going to pay for future projects like the new Forth crossing?
Who is going to pay for all the Scottish Water upgrades and ongoing costs?
Who is going to pay my pension in 10 years time?
Oh yes, of course, the Scottish tax payer!

Boydy
Boydy ye sneaky unionist you.
a bit of misplaced punctuation and yer saying something different from what you mean
and I give you a like for it!
ever thought of a career in politics?
you can keep my likes btw

as for Scotland using the wee eck groat as currency
try splitting a Scottish 20 in oxford
would have been as well having Zimbabwean dollars in my pocket

Maybe you Jocks will start wearing underwear if you go it alone, you will have no-body to pull your kilts up to when the new 8ft wall is built across the border lol

No, that's not the case at all. Scotland has an opportunity to control it's own future, that means that we can vote any party into government and be ruled by that party. Also, what's to say Scotland will fail?

Does anyone think Scottish politician thought this thru properly?
The sheer amount of time money and resources will be ridiculous.
Scottish healthcare, military, border agency, police force, tax infrastructure, post office, councils, schools, government.
Its all stuff the uk as a whole pay for and if Scotland truly want independence then this is the price THEY have to pay. It will cost them trillions. Why should england pay for something we don't want, its not like were forcing them to be an independent state
