How many sparkys on here earth the metal backboxs for domestic sockets ( linking the earth from the socket to the backbox)?

I always do it, my way is the stripped cpc from the cables im terminating , snip a peice and sleeve it then dab it in the lug and connect to socket, ive always done that

each to their own tho

According to the time and motion accountant type, it isn't necessary. According to me it doesn't take long and could save a life.

How could this save a life?

I understand old habits are hard to stop, but if it's not needed then why waste your time?

My 2391 tutor said your wasting your time now, if it was a full rewire or a very large block of offices or commercial Install with a large amount of sockets then this would be a lot of wasted time, why do something that isn't required?

If the tiler of painter what to get behind the edge of the socket he will just remove the screw and pull it forward. OK, maybe he shouldn't but it happens. As for your 2391 guy, like I said, accountant type, 50 seconds x 1000 boxes. Guess I am natural born small time/old time.

I'm with the majority, it's what I was taught so I do it out of habit. I could quite easily follow suit. One thing that annoys me about this is people take a cpc from the ring into the back box, and from there into the socket. Maybe it's just me.
