Discuss SolarEdge monitoring portal update in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thanks MEP. Just registered on the site to try and register system myself, have not received the login email yet but it sounds like the installer will have to do it anyway. Installer says he has fitted SE edge systems before but never registered them as the customers wern't bothered. I am though!

Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for your help.

I know it is very strange, could be a good sales tool for them and they could use it to advise me when chargeable maintenance is required.

The system is connected to the router and the display shows shows <s_ok> so it should already be communicating with SE server. I have a photo of the installation and all the serial numbers for the correct panels. I feel like registering as an installer just to get it working!

One further question, do you know if the monitoring service is FOC or free for a certain period and then chargeable?

Thanks again.

Yep, the portal is one of the many plus points of Solar Edge. Here's what you will have access to, both the panel level monitoring and flexible graphing to show exactly how your system has been performing. Can't do anything about the masses of cloud we have around here at the moment though!

I actually registered my systems myself. All you need is an email from your installer copying SolarEdge to say they are happy for you to have installer level access to the portal. If you have your layout info, go fo it!

Thanks methley.

I thought I would try and register the system on the site and give an explanation of why I was doing this. The portal acceots all the details except the serial number of the inverter it wants a serial number in hexidecimal format xxxxxxxx-xx my serial number is in the format SF0814A-07K667F8G-4B which the portal will not accept.

Any ideas?

Thanks MEP but it will not accept that number either. I have tried lots of different combinations without success.

I have now emailed them to try and sort it out.

Thanks again.

It should do I do it this way miss the zero off !

strange that !!! do you select inverter after placing numbers in ? ie SE4000 uk?

if your stuck send me a email with all your details to register and a copy of Site Layout I will give it a go at my end ...

Although your installer should be registering it !!!

Once again thanks to MEP, knocking off the zero did the trick. For anyone else trying this the serial number is shown in the format S/N: AB0123C-04D567E8F-4B and you need to enter only the portion of the serial number underlined.

However that is then only the start of the problem! After giving them all the details including a picture of the install and site layout with power box serial numbers I get an email back saying “Your system’s registration should be completed by the installer. Please approach your installer to perform the registration. If your installer cannot be reached, please contact SolarEdge support at [email protected]” I had already explained to them that my installer was not interested in registering the system.

I also submitted a support issue detailing the problem and providing all the info necessary only to get the reply “Dear SolarEdge system owner, Thank you for your request to register to the SolarEdge Monitoring Portal. As part of our process, we require that your installer register your system for you.”

It makes me wonder why they let me go to all the trouble of entering all the details only to say no and it raises the question who owns my system me or the installer!!

Anyhow I will email them again explaining the problem. I appreciate MEP’s offer of registering the system for me but that would just be cheating. I really think I should resolve this myself but if all else fails I will get in touch.

In my case with an installer who is not interested then surely it is better for me to have access than not have any access at all.

I will post again when I received further news.

Dave -geo .

Like I said it will take 10 mins of my time to do this for you.

Why your installer can not do it I will never know ! laziness prob....

Can I ask you a question

Did your installer run ethernet cable in to router or did you have to do this?

what a rubbish service !!!!

MEP, I am in touch with SolarEdge and they have now asked for the installers email address which I have now sent them. Presumably they just want his ok.

I have done all the ‘work’ so they have all the details to set it up. I will ring him tomorrow to make sure he has received the email and responded.

I had connected an Ethernet lead to the previous inverter which was a Theia. The Theia was much better for the end user to use as you just plug it in and it works however I do realise why the SolarEdge is a more complicated setup. All the installer had to do was remove the Ethernet lead from the Theia and plug it into the SE inverter. I originally installed the Ethernet lead to the Theia as that was just left without any connection. The router is right next to the inverter so all I needed was the lead.

As for why the installer hasn’t registered it then your guess is as good as mine and you probably have the right answer!

If I don’t get it setup in the next few days then I will take you up on your kind offer.

Thanks for your continued interest.

Thanks to a kind memeber of SolarEdge staff who monitors this forum I have now got access. It isn't working properly yet as the panel layout isn't showing correctly and the four buttons chart, report, alert and admin to the right of the dashboard and layout buttons are not showing. Hopefully they will get this sorted soon.

Thanks to everyone who has helped by PM and directly on this forum it is really appreciated.
