Common chaps, think OP has done all they can, just seek solace here. might just need to bite the bullet and move on. :(

I have a mate works at a garage and he's explicitly said never buy a Ssang Yong, a Dacia, or a Mazda.

We just went through a large repair of the wife's car. I'm pally with the local mechanic so he gave us a little Clio to use for the 12 weeks it was in for. However, as an idea, why not go and buy a little run around - something with a years MOT for a couple hundred quid. Get the insurance temporarily changed and pay for the tax monthly. That way you're back to two sets of wheels for a few hundred quid, it'll help take the pressure off getting the Mazda fixed allowing you to take your time in getting it right. Then when it's all sorted you'll likely sell the run around for a similar price to what you paid for it.

That's good advice. You cannot go wrong with an old Skoda diesel , they are virtually bullet proof.
My mate runs them as taxis , most of them have in excess of 250000 miles on them.
One reached just short of a million before it was taken out of service, too old for continued service.
One of the lads bought it and it is still going strong

We may have a little Peugeot we can use for free but iv got to fix it first. Shouldn't be too much of a problem, I'm fairly comfortable with basic car mechanics.

Gonna pass on the macc company as they have been messing us about.

We have found a engine reconditioner garage called c & f engines in bedforshire. They have quoted a good price and seem abit more registered (actual website, Facebook page and some reviews) although they have said they can't take card payments at the mo because they are changing systems. Not sure what to do there really

Can you drop by their workshop and see what goes on?

So here's an update. It's gone from bad to very bad to disastrous. We got the car booked in with an engine specialist. They have taken the engine apart and booked for an AA engineer to come and inspect the car so he can give a report to AA for our warranty.

Cams warm, injectors failed, twin turbo damaged beyond repair.

AA have just phoned.
They said they will not cover a penny because there was a carbon build up which was part of the problem. I cannot believe such a random clause Is in the policy (AA says it's in the terms and conditions)

All we did was honestly buy a car and drive just over 4000 miles and now we are here.

We are in absolute disarray here. The garage are quoting nearly ÂŁ4000 and we just don't know what to do now. We are going to have to pay it but god knows how.

Bit confused. You are having the car repaired. The warranty offered by the AA, did that come with the original car purchase? The single non Mazda approved service, was that prior to you purchasing the car?

we purchased AA warranty as part of the deal with the car from the dealer. Yes the non mazda service was prior to us purchasing the car
Go back and have it out with the dealer, trading standards, is another option
