ok sorry for causing this row guys i will wait for him to return and get him to do the work it may take me a few more months to save for it but will be worth it i realized that i am not competent terminate the cables however thought i could save my self a decent amount of money by laying it or burying it myself maybe not i will leave it to the professionals.
Thanks

in my experience it perfectly acceptable to clip to a fence thats sturdy and a permanent structure and the cable is suitably protected and visible.
so either im a cowboy or just realistic in my approach to getting the job done.
dont answer that.
:)

Cowboy - doubtful
Realistic - yes

I would much rather clip neatly along a fence but the argument is that if your on holiday and your fence blows down, the neighbour does a good deed by sorting the fence and he's completely unknown to the 230v cable on the other side.

Nothing wrong with diggin the trench for the electrician.

and you can clip to a wall that gets hit by a car..........

or suspend a cable from cantenary wires and steel posts that gets hit by a tree branch in a storm.....

a designer deals with the known , not the hyperthetical.

The fence wouldn't blow down, it's got the SWA to support it..

the fence i referred to have seen a swa clipped to was actually a stone wall so no danger of that happening however i definatly see what you mean about the fence blowing down. I realize what you said was a response to biff however just though i would make it clear

fantastic idea even better than my swa cable idea but 1.5 flex wouldn't take the current i need not that it matters as the fuse would go before hand

For what it's worth, I have a garage at the bottom of my garden that one day I'll be running a 6mm 3 core SWA to and I have the hedge issue too.

I'm intending to construct a low "fence" - about a foot high? - in front of the hedge and clip the SWA to that.

It's just a matter of summoning the energy ............:sleep1:
