What ever you decide stay away from TOSHiba, I'm a MAC man but unfortunately have to resort to the TOSH machine for some paperwork.

You can get windows for MAC but again.. More ÂŁÂŁ

The only problem I have with HP is the amount of useless HP proprietary bloatware they come loaded with that serves no purpose other than to bring a perfectly capable CPU to its knees and monopolize every micron of available RAM, not to mention slow the internet and networking to a grinding halt because it constantly wants to keep phoning home to bleat about what new products you might like to by and in case there's a frikkin update......but apart from that they're great and looking on the bright side all the spam you'll receive for the next year will start with 'Dear Biff' or whatever name you use on the computer.

That said most laptopand notebok manufacturers are just as bad for this so I'd try to buy one that comes with an actual Windoze installation disk because the first thing I usually do it wipe clean and reload without all the garbage.

Marvo have a look at the program called

Decrap it removes all bloatware

Common sense is better. There's so many good AV programs available for free I don't see the point of paying for them unless you're completely computer clueless. I just use AVG free and Sandboxie, can't remember the last time I had any problems. Avast also have a free AV amongst others.

and what about security ?

norton 360 is the dogs isnt it ?

not as bad as mcaffee was roflol when they broke peoples pc's more than most viruses.

malwarebytes/avg are good

as well as microsoft security essentials.

i really like comodo though (there all free)

not had a single virus since i installed comodo a couple years ago (i have had infected files on my pc because i passed them on to others without realising lol)

im using 2 year old free ad-aware and its creaking under my gutter trash surfing lol.

everything is sooooooo slooooooooooooow.

install an ssd and behold the unbelievable speed

If you're reasonably savvy the dump the cumbersome paid antivirus. Just using Sandboxie will almost completely eliminate any risk from internet browsing. Obviously if you don't open spam emails and especially suspicious attachments then you're pretty much home free. I just run my freeAVG to do a manual scan once a week and it monitors in the background without being intrusive and demanding, because the free version doesn't come with all the unnecessary stuff it's pretty low resource footprint. My laptop is 11 years old with only 512megs of ram so I'd notice if it was tying up memory etc.

comodo has built in sandbox but it asks you to allow access to files and folders same as linux

so viruses are bassically braindead because they cant activate or attach to anything etc

Start8 by Stardock can be had for less than five dollars a year and "converts" win 8 to a brilliant win 7 desktop experience - useful if you even have a touch screen PC IMHO.
