smoke alarm install , took neutral from nearest light and live from nearest switch connected smokey switched power on and only light that worked was the one i took neutral from and the smokey worked every other light had no neutral.
puzzled :s

any ideas

when you say you "took" the neutral - could this be a clue?

there was 2 neutrals 1 switch wire at light

1 switch wire 2 loop feeds at switch

connections are perfectly fine , i even disconnected my new cables and the problem still happend

Well from the very basic info I'd say you've dropped a neutral

yes i did but i cant figure out how :s

Check that the outgoing neutral hasn't broken inside terminal or you clamped down onto insulation. Have you 230v across switch live and neutral at each light

the connections were 2 neutrals at light 1 switch wire
2 loop feeds at switch 1 switch wire

i connected neutral to light and live to loop feed ,

checked every connections dozen times as there was only 2 connections made i was pulling my hair out
