1 bed flat

smoke alarm install , took neutral from nearest light and live from nearest switch connected smokey switched power on and only light that worked was the one i took neutral from and the smokey worked every other light had no neutral.
puzzled :s

any ideas

i already new the problem was a lost neutral , and said at the begining i must have drilled through it but thought it was very coinsidental ,

i have re installed a neutral to the 1st effected point , job done

flat is fully concrete everywhere thus this being easiest fix for now

yes , hence reason i thought i couldnt have drilled through it lol

well you almost certainly didnt drill through steel conduit in concrete , which means you never found your own self made wiring fault.

lol , cant understand it , connected neutral to the looped neutrals at light and took feed from switch perm feed , switched power on and only light that worked was the one i connected to , connections perfectly fine

temp fix is done for now though

Why would that be necessary? The cables are in conduit? Facts are some simple testing would surely locate fault, or at least that's the way I was taught.

lol exactly , job was a hassle to start with , had the keys for 1 hour only thought no probs will take 20 mins in out cleaned up home time , then this happened so had to quick fix as it was 6pm and there was viewings being done that night
