Terminating 10mm

changed and upgraded my dad's shower supply as his new shower is too powerful for his existing 6mm

He has a 45amp double pole switch in the spare bedroom which is the means of isolation so for ease of installation iv used the same switch. However I'm finding it really difficult putting the front switch face back onto the back box. I just can't seem to manipulate the conductors enough. I left just enough on the individual conductors

Is the back box flush or surface. For 10mm you would normally use a deeper box think they are 47mm

I need to measure it but I'd say it's probably 47.

common mistake with 10 mm2 cutting cable short as not to take up space in back box you should leave conductors longer as to get a bend on cables

Agree with Oliver on this one its a common mistake. 10mm can be a bugger to work with so try stripping back the outer pvc further to leave slightly longer cables to work with but bear in mind if they are to long it will have the same effect as they will not sit in the backbox properly.manipulation of the cables is the key but if you find you are forcing the faceplate on then it is not wright.

Its hard to tell from that but that looks like a 32mm backbox. If it is then you will probably never get those cables terminated correctly you need a deep 47mm box

Very true but the OP stated the new shower is to powerful it may well be a 10.5KW shower in which case 6mm is not sufficient for the load taking into account the cable routing e.t.c. I have been taught to always install 10mm for shower supplies as it will allow for the higher load showers to run depending on the routing of cable of course even if its only running an 8.5KW shower at present.

Exactly. I don't know what the previous shower rating was but the new one is 9.5kw. 6mm (ref method B) is 36A.

10mm was the best option considering the different installation conditions and power rating of the shower.

Where'd you get that CCC from because my regs don't show B for twin and skin
