Had a tank full of diesel pumped out of my van yesterday, the damage to the Diesel flap and cap was the worse bit, the economy must be in a state, I have decided to get CCTV installed and linked to my phone as well and the alarm linked to it as well, time to tighten up, I'm hoping to catch the Flukkers next time, I fitted a new 30 watt led flood over the van for tonight, but Have to get onto the CCTV ASAP really, I hate thieves, as bad as child molesters, scum :2guns:

can set it up inside the van...good trick is what the security vans use.....a red LED that makes them look in and therefore look at the camera....they can't help but look at it...

They just cut the fuel line under the vehicle here in Manc.
You only find out you've been done after you've got a few hundred yards down the road.

No thanks bud, appreciate the offer, a mate of mine does CCTV and nothing but for a living and is installing the lot, cameras, recorder links to the router and setting up of the IP address etc, If I do get any problems with it though I will let you know, very angry still, it wasnt 12 months ago I had well over 2ks worth of kit stolen from the van off my drive, they actually sat on my drive steeling the diesel, bloody angry.

I get around that problem by waiting until the fuel light comes on and putting 30 quid in. Then it's not so much of a loss if anybody tries to steal it (nobody ever has, touch wood), and I'm not paying to lug around an extra half a tank of fuel for a week.

I decided this myself today adam, I won't keep more than half a tank now ever, I only filled up the day before as well and did 23 miles according to my clock before they robbed it, I will stick 30 quid in tommorrow and thats it, theres about 70 miles left according to the clock before it needs refilling and normally the van does 550 to the tank, so I would get 100 this time, so they basically stole 450 miles worth of diesel, thats a lot, about 55 litres ish I reckon, how did they get that much away??

I hate theives. Lad i work with had loads of kit pinched from a site in Sunderland once.. Pretty gutted bout 2k worth. Anyway the smack rats came round the next day trying to sell it..

Needless to say they got a canny hideing.. Still not the point though.. Would really like to catch someone at it i really would

I can't see a fuel thief going around sitting under vehicles to tamper with them just to get a tenner's worth of fuel, I reckon they must have either seen you fill up, or been able to gauge how full your tank was before trying to nick it and risking you coming out and giving them a battering.

I stopped "filling up" when I watched something about F1 drivers trying to strike a balance between reducing weight and getting more laps without having to make a pit stop, and it made little sense to carry the extra weight of half a tank of fuel around for a week or two.

same here. never put more than ÂŁ20 in my tank. a gallon of diesel weighs around 9lb, so a full tank of 12 gallons is close to a hundredweight.

Sorry to hear about this buddy, hope you catch them and take them for everything they've got (which lets face it, probably isn't alot)

Scumbags, they need culling. My dad had his van robbed of everything, stolen and burnt out like 25years ago. luckily nothing has ever happened too me...touch wood.

I went to a Garage to look at a car about a year ago now and they weren't selling any of them as somebody had been round during the night with a dirty big giant flat screwdriver and bent out all the filler flaps....they needed repaired due to the damage done and were not classed as roadworthy....the car I went in to see had been done as well, was a primera with a mangled fuel filler flap.....think they were something like ÂŁ300 damage on every car on the car park inside the fence...

I know that there's a gizmo that's a modified wheelie bin with a battery pump that the tool hire shops rent out for shifting red diesel about building sites to forklifts and Telehandlers etc.....its a bright yellow one.....I reckon that's what they must be using in reverse otherwise how do they manage to drain loads of vehicles and take it away....

look on speedy or H S S I think you will see them there...
