O

Octopus

So Ford are closing the "home" of the transit and moving assembly to Turkey.

Should us traders not boycot the Transit?

Umm possibly, we always said the new models were tested by the customers, the mod was only released for the six speed but the foam would fit them all. If I remember correctly

yeah that is exactly what I was told when I took it back after a week due to the noise, to be fair I am used to it now, the amount of kit I can get into it is great and it looks good, but bloody hell it can be noisy without the radio on.
Did you have the foam fitted?

Seriously though we should support British products, shouldn't we?

Ideally, Yes.

Ok, they're shutting these plants down, Ford is Yank company, most of the Fords are made in Germany.
What is it in Geordieland, Nissan? British made....

We live in a global village now, the global economy is fooked, they have to cut costs, technology moves on (remember the Wapping!)
Stop whinging and get on with it!

No will I didn't, basically I was told and this was from "bristol street motors in Gloucester" that it would be an additional cost on top of the cost of the van, due to my temper and then anger I told them to stuff it, I wish I hadn't now, I love the van in all reality but can't ever say it isn't noisy, I will probably get it fitted in the spring when the first service is due though and hope no one down there reconises me haha.

Just out of interest how much do Ford charge for this foam part and then what do they charge to fit it

No Idea UNG, I never got that far I told them to ummm **ck off basically as I paid 11 grand for the van and had my --- in a spin over the noise, so I just don't know, but will ask in the spring when the service is due.

No idea, can't imagine it to be a lot, fitting you can do your self, the trim around the lever comes away from the dash and the foam just hangs over the mechanism.
Also if I remember correctly the knob doesn't unscrew like older models, you pull the gaiter up and there's a cable tie holding the small end of the gaiter. Ie the knob stays on the mechanism.

Vauxhalls are utter sh!te.

I've got a Vectra and it's a lovely car to drive! It's just passed 100k but I'm not parting with it!

Someone mentioned supporting local and British... Here's a story...

Round the corner from my missus house there's a place called Macs Tools. He's got a shop smaller than my living room, but sells EVERYTHING. It's all crammed in and impossible to look round, but everything is there. I go there all the time because it's very convenient and saves me getting the car out. Sometimes his stuff costs a few pence more than ScrewFix etc, but I like to give him my cash and keep him open.

Not long ago I was doing some plumbing work. I'd used a one-shot pipe freezer to stop the main supply for 15 mins and got to work. Disaster! I trod on my last fitting! Supply was thawing out and would soon be spraying water everywhere at mains pressure... If I'd had to get to ScrewFix/Toolstation, I'd have returned to a flood... Macs Tools were just round the corner, within 5 minutes I had what I needed and it was fitted....

I was very grateful for the number of times I'd gone to him, given him my cash and kept his business open for when I needed it!

Hi-Will,

I reckon without doubt your right, what concerns me is one why don't they fu**ing fit them as standard when in the factory and 2 if I did do it myself would the warrenty be affected at all?
