To do 2391 or not

J

jassyo06

Hi i am seriously contemplating doing the 2391 inspection and testing course i have just finished doing the 2330 course have got a distinction in both 302 and 303 written exams and a final distinction-distinction for level 3 which has given me a boost in the confidence department to take on the 2391 exam,i have been in the trade for a few decades so i am not some guy jumping on to a different carreer;).

My thoughts are since all of this is still fresh in my head ie the 2330 course work i thinking give a go and get it all done:d
what i want to know is surely 2391 cant be more difficult than the level 3 exams and also what benefits does 2391 give you,the exam is in june the 8th so i have almost 3 months of study to get things going.

My feelings are that just having 2330 is not enough in this job market and surely having 2391 would more desirable to employers and it would also increase your earning potential which is the most important thing to me as i have been unemployed for the last 8 months and still have no signs of a job.opinions please

Go for it, you would be shocked on how many people dont have the 2391 qual.
its a 2 hr or so written if i remember right.

thanks for the encouragement i will sign up for it very soon and buy all relevant books for it 3 months to study is great i only had 2 months for level 3 of 2330.........back to being a bookworm again after all this i will definetely need to go to SPECSAVERS.............he,he

Why do you think not many people have the 2391?
Peraphs they should have done the 2392!!!
It's a 150 mins exam,

is 2392 not really any use its like coming 2nd in a race and no employer is asking for it?if you have 2392 can you inspect and test and write off other peoples work also if you do the domestic installers course(only relevant in england) dont you get 2392 cert along with this

ThE practical is also 3 or so hours, it is NOT easy, you again, have no reference material and are on a timer - oh a bloke with a scowl & clipboard is watching your every move.

It is not easy, i have heard it is THE hardest level 3 c&g qual to get.

Bloke next to me was about toperform Pfc test with an Rcd tester, he was marched off site and heard them say "youre a danger to yourself & every one in the building", cant comment on 4 day intensive courses....

Like said it is Live 3 phase testing. No muppetry allowed!

Listen dont be put of, if you study and dont get draged into other students probs you will pass.
have a look on the net and see some papers from the past exams. Work shop stuff is a peace of cake, written part is as ive said just focus and think of the goal you are going for.

some people find it easier than others, im still going to go for it regardless of what people say, figure if im willing to put the hard work in and study for it then i should be more than able to pass it and have a great qaulification at the end of it

so the practical test is= dead testing continuity, ring final circuit continuity,ir test, polarity, earth eletrode
live testing= testing polarity, impedance test on a earth electrode, earth loop impedance tests, pfc test.i know this wont be easy very difficult actually but 3months of studying/ and practice with a mft(are they allowed to be used)
will hopefully get me a pass

2391 good exam to have like malcom has said you'd be silly not to do it especially as your in the learning mode much easier when youve been doing the training so go for it mate

I did the 2391 after completing the 2330. If you did well on the written papers (which you did) then you will find a tremendous overlap on the written 2391 paper. The practical tests also have a bit of overlap as well except that you have the 3 phase with 2391. TBH i think you are as well getting all the qualifications done and out the way as soon as possible - before the bad habits set in ;).

I did mine evening classes and i preferred the slower approach although a friend did his as a concentrated 3 day course with the exam a week or so after. He found that worked for him but he did take a week off work so he had plenty of time for revising.
