Today's board change

Hi,

This morning's job, in and out in 4 and a half hours. Vast improvement. Feel free to rip it apart and tell me I'm a fool and I've made a bodge of it and don't know what I'm doing.



I did actually heat shrink the end of that line conductor and disconnect the relevant earth and neutral and shrink them the same, it was for a shower circuit thats not connect in the loft, they also got labelled accordingly.



You may say why the cable ties, I saw one of you do it the other week on here, Trev i think or GMES maybe? Looked nice.



Ok I know MCB 8 is on when it doesn't need to be, I did switch it off.

Unfortunately I've got about 20 mk mcbs, new ones in stock... I'll hang on to them for a bit.

Im still not sure about what to do about a new board for my new house, ideally I need a 7+7 + 4 unprotected ways...

Make your own, buy a 24 module Crabtree starbreaker board and seperate busbars and RCDs and main switch, great boards.

Im very happy with the Hager boards, I just feel they are better, they just look better inside and not flimsy either.

Does anyone know if the Hager VC818CU has dual RCD and unprotected ways, looking at the data I think it has, bt don't know how many it has.

for my own place i'd be using SPSN RCBO's throughout, I can PM you details of where I get them from if you want

I was just looking at that, I'm pretty sure it will do what I need, Ddies said they only knew of a 5+6+3, but this is much bigger!

its going to be one of the first jobs when I move in, I want my CCTV on its own rcbo, alarm on one, compressor on one, smokes on one, then I've got about 12 other circuits.

How does a spsn rcbo work over the norm?

a single pole breaks just the L. a spsn breaks L and N afaik.

That's what I've just read but can't exactly understand the benefit?

because if the N is not disconnected, a N-E fault is not cleared.
