Trainees, Show Us Your Installs

OK 9/10 for your work but 1/10 for your boss for giving you choc blocks.:D

Thought I'd get involved and post some of the stuff I have been doing at college. Nothing on the level of everything else I'm seeing on here but to be fair I am only on the level 1 course!

Currently doing 1 & 2 way lighting. Tried to make it as neat as possible.

Nice and neat. Definitely a good start. Keep up the good work, you are strides ahead of the majority of three phase boards I see!:anguished:
A couple of questions for information: are you taught to cable tie the cores? and what is the second earth cable in circuit 4?

I might have taken the incoming earth cable to the earth bar rather than the enclosure and the armour connection to an earth terminal other than for a final circuit.
I hope you are planning on sealing that other hole in the base plate!:)

Thanks, there are a few minor errors I've been working on. One which has been corrected was I was using MCBs on 1234 and had the neutrals on 3456 which I've since corrected.
There are two earths on 4 because the circuit is 3 lamps, 1 each phase (1,2,3) and switched by 2 2 way switches to a contactor on 4. As such I wired the earths on 4 1 to each switch and a connection from a switch to the contactor. I realised after I took the picture the banjo earth should go to an earth terminal. Tutor said earth to enclosure is ok, but personally I think to the earth bar would be tidier.
We're told it's ok to cable tie, but a couple of people on ECUK facebook group said the trick is to cable tie, then cut them off when done and the cable should retain it's shape, and yes I have a plug for that hole

Thanks for the information. Good correction on the neutral alignment, that can be a nightmare later if you are fault finding on a full board.
Cable ties can be a fault finding problem as well but the approach of cutting them later is a good one.
The enclosure is part of the earthing system so it should not be a problem but, as you say, neater in a terminal.

Hagar board with Wylex MCB?

I presume this is a college task the armour feed looks like a 2.5mm

Fair enough, they should invest in the correct make MCB though but with college budgets I don't expect much less

from what the SP said we're lucky we have the boards available let alone correct MCBs. Annoying me a bit because I'm paying over £3k for this year and they can't even get a new board.

£3k Thank god I got an apprenticeship.

That is not bad for a first attempt, no signs of creasing on the conduit and everything reaches to the accessories. (how much did you have to throw away!)
I have slightly changed the perspective on the picture to assess the true better and it seems straighter.
As you get the hang of the overbend and spring back it becomes easier.

Did you pay for this out of your own pocket Dave or did you get a student loan as I know they're available for level 3.
