Two way and intermediate switching

How do you guys do it? Referring to the two pictres below, what are the pro's and cons to the two different methods? I'm trying to settle a minor dispute with a friend

BnD lol I have to admit that I wire 2 way with the 2 conductors in the L1 L2 terminals, it was just for some reason I was taught intermediate with connectors, I blame my sparks who trained me he was a cantankerous old sod

I sir take great offence at that I think it must be duel to the death with the weapon of your choice I choose a length of 20mm galv conduit with a strategically placed offest in it to inflict severe damage.

Okay, How do you do a two way circuit?

With the switch feed in the common and the switched live in a choc block as in the picture on the right. Personally, I find it a nicer layout within the confines of the pattress/KO box and also because I like to fit one doubled over cable end in each termination rather than two straight cable ends.

I use method 1 if I am awake and method 2 if not. Usually use method 2. Also as someone has suggested would not break all cores at intermediate and leave one core intact. Both are correct as far as I know.

They are both wrong.I suppose its a matter of who and how you served your time.
For me its feed to switch 1,switch wire from switch 2 and strappers between all switches.
I know a lot of you guys are fond of 3 plate system but I can't buy into having a permanent feed at a light.

Perhaps if the manufacturers considered providing another isolated terminal on the switch plate? Not just for 2 way & intermediate, but for loop in neutrals too. It would save the floating connector - which I suspect and hesitate to suggest, may technically not be permitted anyhow.

I'm with nolnoc, I was taught at college to wire looping at the switch. Supply >sw1 >however may switches you want > sw wire from last switch to light. saves time up a ladder which is apparently the cause of many an injury.....
