as mentioned in a previous post i wanted to use my sisters property as a way of joining elecsa, after a previous quote she had for a rewire of ÂŁ3600 like for like but incorporating pvc channeling all around the house! i tried to quote for this myself but as the costs of labc elecsa and insurance books etc added up as well as a propper job ( i think?) i quoted ÂŁ1800.i sent her a list of works in the style of original quote and she just rang me saying her husband wants a list of how i came up with the quote ie materials etc..
will try to add my list of works to thread but a document file any ideas how i can do this because i don't know how?

i have spent alot of time and effort into this and i know material wise they are going to knitpick every item in a materials list that i have roughly put together on a peice of scrap papper.
i dont mind doing a materials list or explaining to them that they are paying nearly a grand on getting it sighned off because i have added nearly 30 extra sockets where needed mostly chased and where possible a total rewire.

one of the problems i have is the amount of cable generaly used on a 3 bed house 2.5 ,1.5 any ideas? apart from walk!!

i am going to sleep on this for a while, do a proper quote in the meentime do a proper quote including labour tools petrol vat etc for ÂŁ3600 then my quote minus extras.............
i need to take a break as i am mad, while all this is going on my parents and my brother are living in a potential deathtrap as whole house ringmain was on 1mcb then i was called out at the middle of the night to find out cables had melted behind 2sockets in kitchen causing rcd to trip. disconected 1tail so as to give them temporary power told them to limmit only what needed and to call electrian next day.
went there tonight and its like blackpool tower extension leads everywhere being fed from the already few sockets and everytime i mention it it seems like ime looking for work!
you say the house is a deathtrap as the whole house ringmain is on one MCB....so would you put the house ringmain on 2 MCBs?...share the load?...

My whole house RFC is on one MCB and have no problems, even with the big appliances in the kitchen, good old 70's build.

I would be questioning why the cables had melted. Are they drops from the RFC upstairs?

However when we sort the kitchen out the wiring will be getting a shuffle round.
