Discuss Urgent: 60 amp main cut out fuse required in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

its a main services fuse, i don't think replacing a HRC fuse with wire is a good option.

They still have a problem of why if blew in the first place. so if the supplier comes out with a new fuse it might blow again it might hold till their cooking their turkey !!

I had a quick look at what could be causing the fault. But decided at the rates they were been charged at the time of night it would be best to source a replacement and come back in the morning.

All I am asking is if anyone in the area has one, as i'd like these people to be able to have christmas at home. TLC Direct is my only bet at the moment unless anyone knows of a proper wholesaler open in essex.

And fuse wire at 10pm on a sunday night is not always that easy to find if you nor the client has any!

In a temporary situation, the characteristics of a HRC fuse would be secondary to restoring power
In my opinion,it would be a good option to link out with fuse wire

At the rates charged, heaven and earth could be moved to give a fair deal to the customer paying those obnoxious charges

You seem to be lost in very basic situes yet your been charged out at stupid 160hr rates ...have you considered Mcdonalds .... i only suggest this because of the totally delusional callout charges yet you dont realise you cant interfere with the cutout fuse ... if its blown its down to you to either rectify of advise the customer what caused it and in no way should you be trying to replace it.

I was trying to sort them out as quickly as possible if i had given them temp power, i would still have needed find a fuse for them as i wouldn't be comfortable leaving it like that and walking away.

I can't do anything about the rates apart from be as quick as possible. which i was and always am. they are more than happy with my services. (the bill bares no relation to me as i'm not billing them, i just try not waste time on the job)

This Thread is about finding a 60amp Fuse on Christmas eve

Regs are regs .... laws are laws ....lets just say we have all been in your situe but they advice you require is illegal so dont expect alot of good replies at 130am xmas eve as alot of beers with be amongst us (8pints myself) ... if it was off your own ack at reasonable cost you wouldn't have had the negative response as you did but bring a publically ripoff company into the mix and im sorry but your open season to all the ammo we can fire ;)
