Personally I don't pronounce it at all as I don't use anything but the genuine orange - lever jobbies

But you should call them generic push-fit or lever arch electrical connectors.


And it would be “Iddy- Awl” for Ideal

The push fit splice ones that Ideal make have been my goto for a couple of years rather than crimps. Only now have Wago caught up with an option with their through lever connectors....

Always liked the idea of these connectors, but have read about more than one issue with Ideal splices. Maybe they were poorly fitted, but this is the reason why I'm generally hesitant to use anything other than Wago.

These were the cause of a ring final circuit continuity fault, ditched them fault gone. Awful things.

They've always seemed a fairly good fit when I've tried, though there is the issue of fixing them in place, which you can't do in the same way as a usual Wagobox. I don't like the blue Ideal boxes much, they don't work well with anything more than 1.5mm

My main usage for them has been when extending short cables in a back box, where they can be checked.

They do take some practise to get the angles right for a tight fit, so I can see how they could be poorly fitted.

The new Wago through splices are much easier so they may become the new choice , even if they are a bit more expensive
