You are worth £20 an hour

F

I am wondering if most sparks agree with me on this- That we are grossly underpaid and should be on £20 an hour.I know if will never happen for along time yet but my points are that £20 an hour is a fair rate in respect of all the skills you need to be a spark and all the qualifications you need to have and keep upto date. And you need to run a car for getting to all the different jobs and buy tools and also most importantly to pay all the bills and have a good standard of living and not having to look for overtime just to pay the bills.I am wondering if their is any sparks out there who disagree with this?I AM TALKING ABOUT A RATE OF £20 PER HOUR BOOKS IN WITH A COMPANY AND GETTING TRAVEL TIME AND EXPENSES ETE

I Can understand you thinking I'm talking bull, only joined the forum today and I guess there's plenty of dreamers out there.
I broke up from work on Nov 28th, i'm still off now and due to go back in Feb.Ive been spending my time off doing Domestic work for friends but mostly fishing:)I'm a subby and probably work for one off the best paying companies out there. The company has what I believe the best contracts in the country and only employes good sparks and so pay top rates. Before I broke up I was earning £8000 a month which in turn allowed me to have so much time off over Christmas. The 18year old kids at our place earn £1000 per week and all have their own houses and flash cars. After 23years doing this job I would expect to be working for one of the 'better companies' and earning this kind of money.
cheers

So who is it you work for, and doing what type of work?

i think the price also should be based on the tools, travelling, technique invloved, my kitchen sink blocked seriously last week, 2 plumbers came down and said cannot do it, then a big guy popped down, he had a powerful machine and only took 20 minutes totally to clean the mess, the bill was 140 pounds(includes vat), it is a lot of money, i am still grateful though becasue the blockage was a nightmare and i understood that the powerful machine costed him a lot of money

Like I said on my other thread, all well and good if people can get the rates up :)

The big hitter on here, fair play to you, I was fishing all last summer as well :D

I hope you and the boys on the big dollars all own your properties outright, debt is not wealth ;)

you are paying for his knowledge and honesty . I have done many 30 mins jobs that most will have "stretched " out to 3 hours etc .

Clients need to understand they are not just paying for what they "imagine"
