Your thoughts on bonding this gas pipe

Hi,

Nice easy one, I have a gas pipe, its metal, but painted, no supply to properly, its just capped, but live.

As for bonding, what would you do? Just sand some paint off and bung a clamp on it? That's my thoughts, whats yours? I know you are meant to only put it supply side, but there isn't one.

What's the relevance here, to main bonding an extraneous gas pipe??

But yes, if the incoming cable was a PILC, and the Ze proved suitable by testing, i'd have no problem taking a main earth connection from that cable with a suitable clamp. I wouldn't however make a DIY N-E PME connection....

If there's no Gas meter, You cannot bound to something that's not there.
The gas main is outside the property. So just leave a 10:00mm CPC there for future connection.

Are you for real?? So it doesn't matter to your mind, that the pipe entering the property is extraneous, just that it doesn't have a meter attached to it!! ....Jesus!!

Oh and it WILL be extraneous, on that i'd put money on!! lol!!

I am requoting myself for the benefit of those who only want to read what they want too.

Where abouts is the supply side if a structural steel, ducting etc, all of them could well have to be bonded too if needed.

is the gas pipe inside the building or outside? if the latter, it could be argued that it is not extraneous as it does not introduce a potential inside the structure.

544.1.2 states:

The MEB connection to any gas, ... service shall be made as near as practicable to the point of entry...

Where there is ... a meter ... etc.

There isn't a ******* meter so point of entry.
