    63 Amp Isolator

I know my NICEIC inspector would be telling me I shouldnt be doing it. He made a comment when I installed a cooker isolator switch in a cupboard as per customers request. Do you ever have inspections?

    Electrical Rewire - Advice needed!

I appreciate that the electricians have to be NICEIC approved contractors and have the ability to provide an Electrical Installation Certificate upon completion. Is there anything else I should know? Any and all advice/information is much appreciated! I agree entirely. This is going to cause...

New Zealand 16th edition consumer unit & lack of 30m RCD

The customer told me the lad who tested it was only 17, not too sure about that though, it was an NICEIC approved company nothing wrong with that I am too, but surely no one would send out a 17 year old kid to carry out testing, unless he went on a 5week course LOL. This company does a lot of...

New Zealand 16th edition consumer unit & lack of 30m RCD

Hi Guys After some opinions. Looked at a consumer unit today installed cu in 2008 under the 16th edition ie split load CU usual configuration cooker, immersion & lights on non RCD & shower & sockets on 30mA RCD side. The reason for the replacement cu in 2008 was to update the existing system...

    New Zealand bathroom light

Something that was installed under a previous reg & was ok at that time can not becombe potentially dangerous over night. This would be a C3 IMO no more, no less. Regarding why would the reg change they do that all the time. once upon a time you had to earth bond a stainless steel kitchen sink...

    New Zealand bathroom light

Does that mean that all those installations done before 16th are dangerous because they had no 30mA RCD or supplementary earthing?

    New Zealand bathroom light

Why is no supplementary bonding a Code 2 if there is no 30mA RCD protection?. From memory supplementary bonding between circuits came into effect mid way of 16th Edition, before that was not needed as I recall

    New Zealand bathroom light

Does it have 30mA RCD protection? this may have a bearing on the code There was a discussion on here yesterday regarding lack of 30mA RCD protection on an old installation. The general view was code 3 for that with the explanation that it was ok on the day it was installed. I think that is a...

What type of light fitting is it?

    New Zealand bathroom light

I think it depends on the type of existing light. I think im right in saying that 16th permitted batten holder with home office skirt, I might be wrong. I have just tested an old peoples home & they have enclosed fittings in the bathrooms but are not IPX4 so IMO C3
