nothing like being thrown a curve ball

Very true when using concentric cable but I’ve seen 2 reversed when fed from over heads as the cables are generally the same colour and if the cutout is mounted upside down to accommodate the cables entering from above confusion does arise with the cut out fuse now on the right.

nothing like being thrown a curve ball

They weren’t electrocuted or they would be dead...they both received an electric shock.

nothing like being thrown a curve ball

Not much use if the cut out is reverse polarity though?

UK Speed Limits for vans ....................

Sorry guys it only applies to vehicles fitted with speed limiters not unrestricted ones, again my apologies. Rule 264 of the Highway Code states that any vehicle that is fitted with a speed limiter must not use the right lane of a motorway if there are more than 2 lanes.

13amp socket for old storage heater

BST means E7 is on between 01.00 and 08.00 at the moment as all E7 meters use GMT, could also be E10 so socket would be on and off all day and night or even Heatwise when the socket would only be good for a set of disco lights :)

UK Speed Limits for vans ....................

Another little known law is that vans are also not allowed in the outside lane of motorways unless they have another side window to the rear of the driver’s.

Builder needing advice after damaging temporary supply to new build!

DNO’s do not connect meters, they will run the service cable to a cut out which may also be TNCS, MOPs supply and fit the meters.

There are plenty of other options, personally I’m thinking about joining www.RCDtripadvisor.com, if my reviews are all excellent I can get 5 Sparks and certificate to hang on my wall.

What's the answer to this problem?

My procedure is to test for correct polarity at the cut out, meter and CU then a socket test for the same and earth presence. A visual check is also carried out and cut out/ meter tails upgraded to 25mm as required. An isolator (this becomes the boundary point between Mocopa and BS7671) is fitted...

How can anyone think this is acceptable ...

Maximum should be 0.35 Ohms for PME, 0.8 Ohms TNS but I seem to think some DNOs have revised PME maximum to 0.20 Ohms for new connections.

It is when you are stripping live meter tails back to fit into the blocks.

Smart meters, pulling fuses, what’s the latest?

I tend to disregard missing seals (unless it is accompanied by a pungent smell in the air)! Do the required job and then re-seal especially if there is a brand new CU sitting nearby :)

So live working with no PPE......interesting.

Smart meters, pulling fuses, what’s the latest?

But then it does become something to do with the MOP with no seal on the meter, routine safety checks are carried out on meter installations and a missing seal could result in Revenue Protection becoming involved. Worse still it would result in an audit fail for the meter technician.

How do people compete with numpties quoting blind...

“I’m sorry...the phone line’s really bad did you say it was 16 or 60 metres from your house to the garage?” “Why does that make a difference?” “Yes it does to the price, the shorter the distance the cheaper the price” “OK in that case it is definitely SIXTEEN, when can you come and do it?” :)

Smart meters, pulling fuses, what’s the latest?

Cut Out fuse removal is classified as a Network Switching Operation and therefore should only be carried out by personnel trained and authorised to do so. Do you have the correct PPE for removing and refitting cut out fuses. How do you establish if a cut out is operating hot? Do you check the...
