    Votage drop calculation formula= R1 + Rn x 1.2 x Ib So in this case = 0.38 x 1.2 x 30 Voltage drop = 13.68v = 5.95 % DOES NOT COMPLY!!

    recently got asked for quals in order to PAT test a few items. Showed them a copy of my 2391 , only to be questioned as to my capabilities to test appliances , as they only recognised 2377 as the quals for this in their "nationwide company"! MADNESS

    Correct Patman, it is only a simple continuity test between earthpin on plug and exposed metal on the appliance under test!

    Correct!! The reason being; modern PC's momentarely start up when you apply power, then shut down automatically after about 10 seconds. When PAT testing the applied test duration is around 5 seconds. When 2 short bursts of power is applied to modern PC's there is a potential of them "crashing".

    10K line to earth,me thinks something still connected somehow, Perhaps aerial amp in loft? as for res. of 250 ohms between rings, maybe borrowed neutrals?

    Or fit a 30mA RCD (permitted max Zs= 1667 ohms) as per BS 7671 (ps. not my favorite option)
