Lights problem with LED lamps not turning off

Sounds like inducted voltages in the cables. The voltage can be quite high but there will be negligible current. Enough current to make an LED glow but dragged down by your meter. So yes the suggestion to add dome loads will cure it. What I don't get is why we don't see more moves to 12V for...

    Access Training Wales

I did the 5 week Access training course (here in Hertfordshire not Wales) It was ok. If you have no experience I think you would really struggle. If you have practical experience (even DIY) it helps a lot. Most of the exams are open book so as long as you do the studying and learn the layout of...

Ring final & Radial circuits off one mcb ?

Well its not diverse at all. Its one circuit but could easily be 2 circuits. 2 circuits would offer diversity. 1 circuit doesn't.

Ring final & Radial circuits off one mcb ?

Isn't it failing to provide diversity in case of failure? A RFC with as many outlets can only be on one MCB and if it trips they are all dead. But if you have 2 "feeds" to 2 sets of outlets at the CU then joining them into one MCB if failing to provide diversity between them.

You could consider Storma. They are cheaper and simpler...

    Written consent from customer.

I believe Storma "rules" dictate an EICR before a consumer unit change. That was what I was told when I joined their scheme.

Regulations? We don't need no stinking regulations!

They didn't use the space above the shower for a microwave? Looks like a C&G what's wrong here test.

Why neutral? (And why 20 characters in a thread title)?

Pretty sure when I saw the info re the metal enclosures for CCUs it was in part due to loose neutral connections. It does indeed seem that more than a few sparks think the L has to be tight and the neutral they pa less attention to...

Wiring a new 2 gang socket

Wago connectors in the original back box to extend new cables to the new face plate if needed.

Wiring a new 2 gang socket

Correct. The earth terminal on the plastic Pattress only serves to secure the CPC (earth wires) and join them. The plastic box needs no earth. So just treat the plastic box as a spacer.

Loft light - Boiler location - Building Regs

Its states a fixed light. Buy and screw in place a battery powered LED lamp. Cheap as chips.

    Power outlet orientation.

Largely irrelevant nowadays. Almost all plugs have sleeves on the L and N plug pins so stuff dropping in doesn't make any difference. But if the socket was upside down then the flex would exit going up. That would add additional resistance (gravity) to the electrical flow.

remedial work after an EICR was carried out on a residential property

If it takes more time to write up and report I'd just fix. Otherwise I isolate the circuit and advise the person ordering the work. If they decide to re-energise that's their call.

Socket outlets with built in USB

Saw some in Screwfix the other day under £7 each. Looked ok. But as USB C is the next connectivity option fitting the old style USB means they will be out of date in a few years.

    RIP Pc Keith Palmer

We seem incapable of learning as a species. We continue to make the same mistakes and cause even greater suffering. Ultimately we seem unable to move beyond thinking of ourselves. A sad loss. As they always are.

Tiltable suitably IP rated GU10 downlight?

Sorry. You are correct. I suspect the tilt function means a seal isn't possible.

wiring a ring in 2.5 is no longer acceptable?

I've got fed up calling it a RFC and customers asking whats that. Easier to call it a ring main and they know what I mean.
